What you can check without opening electrics

Use the normal controls only
Do not remove the fan cover, isolator or light fitting to investigate wiring.
Note the exact sequence
Record whether the fan starts with the light, continues afterwards, trips protection or changes after a shower.
Check external obstructions
Only from a safe accessible location, note a blocked external grille or obvious duct problem without dismantling electrical equipment.
Leave tripping circuits off
If the light or fan operates the RCD repeatedly, stop using that circuit and arrange testing.
Stop at the cover: no socket faceplates, consumer-unit covers, light fittings, isolators or appliance panels should be opened unless you are competent, equipped and able to isolate and prove dead correctly.
