For a permanent multi-camera installation, wired PoE is usually the more predictable foundation because one network cable supplies power and data to each camera. WiFi cameras can suit isolated or difficult positions, but still need dependable power, strong coverage and a clear recording strategy.

Does PoE CCTV work if the internet goes down?
A correctly configured local PoE camera and recorder can continue communicating over the local network during an internet outage, although remote viewing and cloud-dependent functions may stop. The exact behaviour depends on the equipment and recording design.
Are WiFi CCTV cameras completely wireless?
Not usually. They may send data over WiFi but still require mains power, a battery or solar charging. Each option creates a different maintenance and reliability requirement.
Is PoE CCTV more secure?
A cable removes reliance on the wireless radio link, but security still depends on passwords, updates, remote-access settings, account control and the wider network. No connection method is secure by itself.
Can wired and WiFi cameras share one system?
Sometimes, if the recorder or platform supports both and the design remains manageable. Compatibility, recording behaviour and account ownership should be confirmed before equipment is mixed.
