Begin with a central, ventilated and serviceable equipment position. Run individual tested cables from there to access points and fixed devices, with spare capacity for likely changes. The number and position of outlets should follow furniture, workspaces, televisions, cameras and property construction.

Is Cat6 suitable for a home network?

Cat6 is commonly used for residential structured cabling, but performance depends on cable quality, route length, termination and testing. The category label alone does not prove the installed link.

How many Ethernet sockets should each room have?

There is no universal number. Start with the fixed devices and likely furniture layout, then consider whether an extra outlet or spare route is worthwhile while access is available.

Where should the network cabinet go?

Choose a secure, dry, ventilated and serviceable position with suitable power and practical routes to the provider connection and cable destinations. Avoid sealing active equipment in a small unventilated cupboard.

Should CCTV cables return to the same cabinet?

They often can, provided the cabinet, PoE switch, recorder, storage and security arrangements are designed together. Larger or detached systems may justify a different topology.
